School Advisor

Mark and Liz, volunteer School Advisors

This is a longer term position. We prefer a six month or longer commitment. Married couples have worked best here in the past, but that is not a requirement. You work with the principal and teachers in the school, helping them in various matters from deciding on food prep. (outsource or cook in house?), education issues, English teaching, helping our teachers understand concepts taken for granted here in the U.S., such as opening a personal bank account.

These volunteers should be college graduates. Our previous advisors, Mark and Liz, had just graduated from college and had only married a few months before coming. They worked out very well and had a great time with our staff and children. Our current advisors are Scott and Kristen Mulhern. They arrived from the U.S. in Hyderabad in January 2010 and will be on site to assist and direct other volunteers until July 2010.

Other volunteers, many for just a few weeks, have worked in our medical clinic and have taught English and other subjects to our children. Our children, especially in the higher grades, do understand English. If you are a nurse or teacher we would be especially glad for your help.

Volunteers should be high school graduates unless with their parents. Volunteers are scheduled for times when either a volunteer school advisor or foundation principals are also present. Please contact us for more information as to times.
